Insight to Action: On the Potential You Can’t Yet See…
Last week I spent an incredible week in Stratford-upon-Avon as one of the trainers delivering the One of Many™ Women’s Leadership Coaching Certification.
Eight years ago, I sat in that very same training as a participant.
It was my first ever coaching qualification.
So standing at the front of the room this time, facilitating the programme rather than taking it, made me pause.
Because the gap between where I was then and where I am now is huge.
Not just professionally.
Personally.
8 years ago I could not have foreseen the extent of the personal and professional development that would follow.
That’s the true nature of latent potential.
Latent potential is the capacity within you that hasn’t yet been expressed, often because you cannot yet see it.
In coaching, this shows up in a very particular way.
Sometimes the coach can see something in you that you cannot yet see in yourself.
The coach holds belief in that potential before you can fully claim it yourself.
They see the future version of you, and they keep relating to that version until you grow into it.
When I think back to the woman who walked into that training eight years ago, she could not possibly have imagined where she would be today.
But someone else could see it.
And that belief matters.
Because sometimes the first step in unlocking potential is simply borrowing someone else’s belief long enough for it to become your own.
One question
Who in your life sees more potential in you than you currently see in yourself?
One insight
Unexpected outcomes reveal blind spots, assumptions, and hidden dynamics you couldn’t see beforehand.
Sometimes the result is disappointing and sometimes it’s better than you imagined.
Either way, the value lies in the information you gain, which can be integrated into your next steps.
One action
Think of one area where someone has expressed belief in you that you’ve dismissed.
What if they’re right?
Take one small action today that aligns with the version of you they can already see.
Insight alone does not equal transformation.
