The hail thunderstorm commands attention ⛈️…

Today was supposed to be Elsie’s sports day.

It was cancelled because of a thunderstorm forecast.

This morning, standing in bright sunshine, I joked that it probably wouldn’t even rain.

At exactly 1:30pm, the sky had other ideas.

Not just a thunderstorm.

A hail thunderstorm ⛈️⛈️⛈️.

Everyone was at the window watching.

That’s the thing about a storm.

It commands attention.

Professional positioning works the same way.

One question

Does your LinkedIn profile draw people in to look further or is it like a dusty old CV?

One insight

Most people use LinkedIn as a record of where they’ve been.

The problem is that opportunities are created by where you’re going.

If your profile doesn’t reflect your next step, it will attract opportunities from your past.

At best, you’ll be approached for roles you could have done five years ago.

At worst, you’ll look disengaged from your own career.

One action

Your personal brand exists whether you actively manage it or not.

People are already forming opinions based on what they see, or don’t see.

So, take control of the narrative.

Make sure your profile speaks to the opportunities you want next, not just the jobs you’ve already had.

Most people find it uncomfortable to talk about their achievements or articulate the value they bring.

That’s exactly why they stay invisible.

Let’s bring the thunder ⚡.

Keep opening up,
Hannah
