When you are upside down

Many of you attended my free Design & Align Masterclass at the start of this year. For those that didn’t; we live our lives according to our values system. If it is a value for us, we will spend: time, energy or money on it.

During the workshop, we elicited our life values as things currently stand. Through a series of exercises, we designed how we wanted them to be and aligned them to our intentions for the year. Sounds simple but having your values on a piece of paper somewhere visual can make all the difference when faced with choice points.

I did this process for myself and was very happy with my top 5 values until covid came to play in our house. I had 8 days before I was due to go away for a 3-day personal development course and I really wanted to go. Luckily, I only tested positive for 3 days and proceeded to continue to deliver workshops and coaching until Thursday afternoon hit and I had lost my voice completely!

As I arrived at the 3-day personal development course, I joked that given the topic was around vitality, mine couldn’t get any worse. By lunchtime day 1, I had a realisation that although my health was in pretty bad shape, I actually still had access to my vitality. That life force energy and the twinkle in your eye.

For the first time, I really got that, not ill, is not the same as vitality.

I had allowed myself to arrive with such poor health because my life values were upside down. My top value going into the weekend was making a difference. For me to be able to do that, I need to be self-expressed, in the best vitality I can possibly be, connected with my loved ones and community to be able to sustainably make that difference in the world. Completely flipping my values upside down in order.

Had I aligned to these values in their new order, I would have made very different choices in recovering from covid.

Does that mean the Design & Align workshop was incorrect? No, of course not 😉

It was absolutely the correct process to elicit your life values. What landed for me at the weekend was the power of having someone else hold a mirror up to you and your values and challenge them. This is the power of coaching. As is how to go about really living and making choices by your values when you change or reorder them. Having that support is invaluable.

With that in mind, I would like to be that mirror and support for you. I’m hosting a 3-day BEYOND IMPOSTER SYNDROME Masterclass.
