Winter Solstice you must think I’m crazy!

You must think I’m crazy!

An e-mail at 04.19 am. You must think I’m crazy? Actually, there’s method in my madness.

04.19 GMT is the precise moment of solstice (the point where the North Pole is tilted furthest away from the sun). So today is the shortest day.

Traditionally winter solstice is a time of quiet contemplation and reflection. Identifying what we need to let go of and setting intentions for moving forwards. Moving away from the dark nights and turning back towards the light.

As we move past the point of solstice and the days grow longer again, those intentions start to take root. The actions that we take in the Winter months growing strong roots underground. In Spring, the first blossom of something new. With continued attention and nourishment, our intentions will bear fruit in the late Summer-Autumn of 2020.

I have to be honest. Every year up until now, this moment in my calendar has simply passed me by. This year I feel different. I have noticed the benefits that reflection has brought. New learning, awareness and a way to move forwards strategically. Very different from the constant task orientated Superwoman that valued quantity over really considering the purpose of what was keeping me so busy.
